V O O D O O Festival

We’ve always heard that Halloween brings out the kooks and spooks in New Orleans so we headed to the bayou to see the craziness for ourselves. Voodoo Music Festival happens over Halloween weekend each year in the heart of New Orleans and brings some of the biggest musical acts in the country to let their freak flags fly.

The weather was perfect when we descended on the city but rumor on the street was that the storm was on it’s way. We spent our arrival day marking our territory by the electronic stage and getting in the festy mode!

The first evening after the festival had ended and our pop up shop was closed, We danced, drank in the streets, and got down New Orleans style on Bourbon St. We even made a special NOLA shirt in honor of our first trip to the party city!

Florence + the Machine killed it Saturday night!

The second day was Halloween and since our lives are already a zoo we decided to celebrate it circus style complete with top hats and glitter. We put our costumes to work as the storm blew in and we had to sell the 200 ponchos that we brought (did you read our Tomorrow World blog? This wasn’t amateur hour…). The rain kept coming and the mud grew deeper.

On Sunday the festival was cancelled because of Saturdays rain and the insanely muddy mess that the park was left in. In some places the mud puddles were 3 feet deep.   Since the festival was closed we hit the city streets to find some authentic Louisiana characters and cuisine.   We did some street performing, some more street drinking, and tried our best to look like locals.

New Orleans you rock. Thanks for the good time.
